Strong to gale force SE winds and enough rain to make one grow gills, made for tough fishing conditions early in the week at Swiftsure Bank .Chinooks and halibut were hard to find but coho from 8-15 lbs were plentiful to say the least! The week finished off with a fresh run of white chinook salmon ranging from 15-30 lbs making for excellent salmon fishing once agin on the bank!! Halibut remained a little slow but overall Swiftsure Bank remains hot salmon fishing!!!! The beaches at Port Renfrew have basically been on fire all week with excellent chinook salmon fishing with sizes ranging from 15-35 lbs!!! See you on the dock, Blair

July 2013 Port Renfrew Fish Report

We've had all kinds of weather and fishing this week in Port Renfrew. We started out the week with big seas, thunder and lightning storms, and lots of fish. Chinook were ranging from 8 pounds to 15 offshore, with tons of feeders, lots of coho, and even some pinks. Mid-week salmon fishing slowed down, and the sized dropped, with lots of feeders on the bank off Port Renfrew. By the end of the week, strong ebb currents began to kick in again offshore, bringing with it an abundance of chinook with bigger sizes ranging from 10 to 25 pounds. Fishing on the beach around Port Renfrew this week has been spotty but really good at times, with chinooks ranging from 15 to 35 pounds, being best at high water slack. Also lots of coho as always for this time of year, and halibut has been consistently good all week. See you on the dock, Blair

Port Renfrew offshore fishing at Swiftsure Bank has been on fire, with lots of chinook ranging from 8 to 20 pounds, tons of coho, and the pinks have shown up too. Halibut's been a little spotty, with the Ranch producing good sized fish. Fishing on the beach around Port Renfrew is a little hit and miss, but some decent sized chinooks ranging from 15 to 30 pounds have been coming in all week. It was really windy offshore earlier in the week, with strong ebb currents making for rough conditions that have been hard to fish in. But as of Thursday the winds have died down and offshore fishing for Port Renfrew has been epic! See you on the dock, Blair

July 2012 Port Renfrew Fish Report

In the beginning of the week offshore conditions off Port Renfrew have been rough to say the least. Big ebb tides have been making it extremely difficult to fish, but for those that pushed through it there were lots of fish to be caught. Chinook sizes ranged from 8 to 15 pounds in the beginning of the week, with endless Coho getting bigger by the day. The ebb currents died and seas layed down by the end of the week, with a fresh school of Chinook salmon ranging from 15 to 30 pounds offshore. Coho still abundant as always in Port Renfrew, and halibut turned from spotty to good with consistent size by the end of the week, ranging from 15 to 35 pounds with a few 40's caught on the bank. Beach fishing has been inconsistent with some large Chinooks being caught and lots of Coho close to shore in 200 feet of water. See you on the dock, Blair

June 2010 Port Renfrew Fish Report

The late spring and early summer fishing on the southern west coast of Vancouver Island started with exciting and plentiful results. Swell Time has been out on the water every day working all the gear to keep up with full days of maxed out fishing. Spring salmon are plentiful in the 20 lb range with a few bigger springs being landed in the 30-40lb range. Salmon Fishing is consistent and thrilling as usual along the beach as well as off shore. Out on Swiftsure Bank, the Halibut fishing has been excellent with most fish landed in the 30-50 lb range with a few hauled into the boat between 70 – 100 lbs. Swell Time has set the crab traps on every trip and been overwhelmed at the consistency and quality of the crabbing. The large and hard shelled Dungeness Crabs are filling the traps making a heavy haul up to the boat. The weather, tides, fishing and wildlife sightings have provided an fantastic start to the summer experience on the west coast. Call or email now to book your charter ensuring you won’t miss out on the 2010 fishing season! See you on the dock, Blair
